Carles is a music composer, pianist and saxophonist player from Barcelona. He combines his music career with his role as a passionate piano teacher.
He started playing the piano at the age of 6. After obtaining his Professional Degree in classical piano (2017), he graduated with a Bachelor’s in classical and contemporary composition in 2020 at the Superior Conservatory of Music Liceu in Barcelona. These studies were extended with a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts – University College of Ghent (Belgium). He continued his education by doing a Master’s in music teacher’s training (2021) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He combined his classical background with a parallel formation in jazz and modern music applied to piano and alto saxophone, which is his second instrument.
Carles has over five years of piano teaching experience with children, teenagers and adults. He has taught in different backgrounds (classical, jazz, contemporary), with students of different ability levels and different purposes as well. He has prepared students for piano and music theory exams (elementary and middle-grade music levels) with excellent outcomes. His experience has involved music sensitisation for early pianists (ages 4 and 5), four-hand piano teaching experience and preparing students for concerts and festivals, among other goals.
As a professor, he enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion for the piano in class, always looking for the best way to teach the individual needs of each student. With an empathic and complete vision of music teaching, he likes the lessons to be fun, creative and a very enriching experience.
In 2022 he started a Master’s in Songwriting at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, where he continues to teach piano and share his vision of music through MMQ’s teaching philosophy.
