We are MMQ Piano Studio, a specialised piano school based in North West London, offering a complete musical education in a creative, supportive, and inspiring environment.
Founded in 2018 by sisters Elena and Marta, MMQ was created with a shared vision: to offer a different approach to piano education, where musical excellence and enjoyment go hand in hand.
Marta brought her background in Piano Performance, Piano Pedagogy, and music education research, together with a passion for helping students become creative and independent musicians. Elena brought her experience in technology, project management, and organisation, helping transform this vision into a thriving piano school.
Together, we have created an environment where students are encouraged to grow with confidence, develop a genuine understanding of music, and build a lifelong connection with the piano.
Today, we support over 225 students through lessons at our Willesden Green studio and home lessons across different areas of North West London.
Over the years, we have developed our own teaching approach and curriculum that goes beyond traditional piano learning. Alongside technical and repertoire development, we focus on essential musical skills such as improvisation, composition, arranging, and playing by ear, helping students become confident, independent musicians.
Our teaching philosophy is strongly informed by Edwin Gordon’s Music Learning Theory, which explains how musical understanding is acquired through specific learning sequences. This research-based foundation shapes how we teach, plan lessons, and sequence our curriculum.
Our focus is not solely on exam success, but on nurturing lifelong piano lovers who enjoy performing, understanding, and creating music. This holistic approach naturally leads to strong exam results and success in competitions, while keeping creativity and enjoyment at the centre of learning.
Elena leads the operations and development of MMQ as Managing Director, while Marta oversees the educational direction as Head Teacher. Together with our committed team of highly qualified teachers, we share a unified philosophy and a passion for inspiring every student.
