Kate Logvinyuk

masterpiece

Kate is a pianist, chamber musician, collaborative pianist and piano teacher with over 15 years of professional teaching experience.

She began studying piano at the age of four with Elena Klimenok and gave her first 30-minute solo recital at the age of six, performing works by Bach, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. She continued her studies at the Tchaikovsky Academic Music College at the Moscow State Conservatory, where she earned a Diploma of Higher Professional Education in Piano Performance. She then completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance with distinction at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, studying under Professor Grigory Gordon. Kate later studied with pianist Alexander Kobrin at the Schwob School of Music in the USA, where she completed an Artist Diploma. During her studies, Kate was awarded first prizes at numerous national and international piano competitions, both as a soloist and chamber musician. Alongside her performing career, she developed a strong passion for teaching and has found great fulfilment in sharing her knowledge and experience with students.

Since joining MMQ Piano Studio in September 2022, Kate has continued to develop her teaching practice within a studio whose philosophy closely aligns with her own. Kate believes that learning music is much like learning a language: we first listen to, recognise and imitate sounds and patterns, and then learn to use them through playing by ear, improvising and creating. This approach helps students understand the music they play rather than simply read the notes. She places particular emphasis on developing a strong musical ear, technique, musical expression, sight-reading, improvisation and music theory. Her approach is highly individual, with lessons tailored to each student’s personality, abilities and goals. Beginners learn through games and creative activities, while more advanced students focus on technique, interpretation and developing their own musical ideas.

Kate’s students have achieved success in ABRSM and Trinity examinations, won prizes at the North London Festival, and reached the final of the EPTA UK Piano Competition. Above all, Kate aims to help her students become confident musicians who develop curiosity, discover their own musical voice and experience the joy of making music.
