The teenage years are often a turning point in a student’s musical journey.
Some teenagers want to learn their favourite pieces, compose, improvise, or explore different styles. Others have been learning for years but need fresh challenges to stay motivated. Some are working towards exams, competitions, music scholarships, or Music GCSE- A levels.
MMQ Approach:
At MMQ, we understand that teenage students need lessons that are engaging, relevant, and adapted to their changing interests.
Our goal is not simply to help teenagers play the piano. We help them become confident, independent musicians who continue to enjoy music for life.
Our pricing is simple, fair and budget friendly, with one payment each month between September and July.
Our curriculum helps teenagers become complete musicians, not just pianists.
Alongside technique and repertoire, students learn to play by ear, improvise, compose, arrange, use chord charts, and understand music in a practical way.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s interests while ensuring strong musical foundations and long-term progress.
Alongside individual lessons, students can also access theory courses, keyboard skills classes, workshops, and performance preparation sessions.
Teenagers benefit enormously from having meaningful goals and opportunities to share their music.
Students regularly perform in concerts, graduation recitals, festivals, and competitions, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and communication skills.
Teenage students often stay with us for many years because they become part of a community, not just a weekly lesson.
Through concerts, workshops, meet-ups, and shared musical experiences, students meet like-minded musicians and develop friendships alongside their musical skills.
Our teachers combine high-level performance training with specialist pedagogical expertise and ongoing professional development.
Just as importantly, they understand teenagers.
They know how to motivate students, adapt to different learning styles, and support them through busy school years while maintaining progress and enjoyment.
Many of our students stay with us throughout their entire teenage years and beyond.
Some begin as young children and continue through GCSEs, A-levels, diploma studies, university applications, competitions, and advanced exams.
Our aim is not simply short-term progress, but developing a lifelong relationship with music.
We combine personalised one-to-one lessons with inspiring group learning opportunities, giving students the best of both worlds. Alongside individual piano lessons, students can take part in musicianship and keyboard skills classes, theory courses, performance masterclasses and festival preparation workshops. All this builds confidence, holistic musical understanding, and a strong sense of community.
Everything you need for your musical journey is covered! Your monthly fee includes:
All books and learning materials
Regular performance opportunities
Full access to workshops and studio activities
Ongoing, dedicated support from our teaching team
Not at all. If you’re not ready for a long-term commitment, you are welcome to try it out for just one month and decide if you’d like to continue afterwards.
We are unable to offer make-up lessons or reschedule missed lessons. The monthly fee covers a regular weekly lesson slot during the school term, and lessons cancelled by the student, regardless of the notice or reason, cannot be rescheduled nor refunded.
If you are unable to attend a lesson in person, online lessons may be available as an alternative, which can be especially helpful for last-minute issues, illness or unexpected circumstances.
If you cannot attend a lesson, please let us know so your teacher knows whether to expect you at the studio or come to your home. When a lesson is missed, your teacher will provide notes or a video with guidance so the student can continue practising according to their programme until the next lesson.
If another student cancels a lesson during the same week, we are happy to offer that available slot to you whenever possible.
We keep things simple and hassle-free. If you need to stop, just give us one month’s paid notice and you can end your lessons.
Book a 30-minute consultation meeting with our Head Teacher to discuss your goals and expectations.
